Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products has named Vikram Sharma as its Group Vice President, Head of Consumer Products, Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions, beginning today.
Sharma will report to Robert Oberschelp, Head of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, and part of the company’s Revenue & Strategy division helmed by Chief Revenue & Strategy Officer, Bruce Campbell.
In this role, Sharma will work with James Gibbons, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Head of APAC, as well as other regional and country leadership to maximize the potential of key brands and franchises, including DC, Harry Potter, Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Discovery, and more. The team will develop strategic, operational, and financial initiatives that support the company’s global multibillion-dollar retail consumer products licensing organization.
For five years, Sharma has led teams in Warner Bros. consumer products, licensing, and ad sales. He previously worked for more than eight years in similar roles with The Walt Disney Co. in India and Southeast Asia. Sharma is following Julian Moon, Head of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, EMEA & APAC, who will retire this year after 33 years with the company.
“Vikram has been one of our go-to, results-oriented leaders in Asia-Pacific for some time. His depth of knowledge of the vastly different markets and cultures of the region, along with his innovative and collaborative spirit, makes him the right choice for this time,” says Oberschlep. “We have a terrific internal creative and products team, great country and regional partners, and very strong bench strength in management. I’m grateful for everyone’s collaboration and support of this choice.”
