Who would have guessed that 2025 would be the return of Shadows of the Empire to our Star Wars Shelves. Not me, though I’ve always wanted a Black Series Spiker and Gizz.
I had the original Luke in Guard disguise from this line and never cared for it, and while I think it’s clever that they brought in some Clone Trooper armor elements as sort of a retcon, it’s not calling me. That likeness is just so off to my eye. Still, it’s a neat Star Wars armored guy with the helmet on. Leia does have some improvements on the original Boushh and it’s re-release, but I’m not sure the new head and shinier metallics on some parts are doing it for me. For one, the eye print makes her look super scared. Though now that I think about it, that would be appropriate for her scenes with Xizor. While this set isn’t quite my cup of tea, I’m still interested to see what they do with Chewie and Dash from Shadows.
The set goes up for pre-order on Pulse today 12.11.24 at 1PM ET for Premium members and 2PM for everybody else. It will also be at the Disney Store at a later date, probably closer to the planned release date of Spring 2025.
