SDCC 2024: NECA Preview Night |

Unlike Hasbro, NECA puts out a metric ton of new items on preview night. It’s pretty stunning the sheer number of things I never knew I needed that I now have to budget for after checking out this booth tonight.

The Mirage line is growing by leaps and bounds with a ton of stuff including a really cool new April and Karai as Shredder. I’m loving all these variants of the turtles as well. The Raph has an eye patch that you can’t really see in my photo.

I have not kept up with The Last Ronin, but I love the figures of the new Turtle quartet and old April. Makes me want to catch up with the book!

I just watched an unboxing video with Veebs on the Robo Don’t know Youtube channel where Ken Mitchroney, the artist behind the Archie comics Turtles unboxed these figures, so while they weren’t surprising, they are still really fantastic looking in person and I love this posed out fight. If you haven’t seen that video, I recommend it because it’s great to see the artist react to such faithful recreations of his artwork in 3D. I’m also glad to see Belly Bomb and the rest of these guys in boxes so they are getting closer.

The cartoon line continues to go deeper into that show than I ever thought possible. Wyrm and Panda Khan (not pictured – Pixel Dan has those photos) were never in the show, but the figures look like they belong perfectly.

The Christmas Turtles were surprising and I love the accessory of a tangle of Christmas lights on Leo. I don’t particularly need Black and White Universal Monster figures, but they look really cool all together like this. I love how the box art of the four pack almost gives them a Mount Rushmore of Horror look. I almost just want that art as a poster. Speaking of Horror, they had a ton of Horror related figures out today. My bread and butter is Universal Monsters, but right behind that is the Hammer Horror films, so I was so happy to see the Christopher Lee Dracula and the reveal of the amazing Peter Cushing as Van Helsing figure. It was also awesome to see an Ardeth Bay figure since Karloff really looks like this for most of the Mummy.

I remember seeing a lot of shock at the cost of the Krampus figure, but seeing the massive hunk of plastic, I can kind of understand it now. The shocker of the show for me was the ultimate versions of the Sesame Street characters. The poseability and the detail are lovely on these. It’s funny, I passed on reaction Bert and Ernie for $20 a piece, but I’m probably going to pay around $40 a piece for these.

I’m not a huge Iron Maiden fan, but I think I might need this zombie samurai themed figure.

I love that they are making Ultimate Pee-Wee and Jessica Fletcher is looking so good. The one disappointing thing for me here is the Flash Gordon and D&D lines didn’t have any new figures. I need to ask to see if there might be more later in the show.
