More than 30 years after Rugrats first hit screens in 1991, the kids who grew up loving the series now have kids old enough to introduce to one of their favorite childhood cartoons. Mix Games and Wallride are teaming up with Paramount Consumer Products to launch Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland, a retro-inspired puzzle adventure video game featuring kids’ favorite rugrats.
The game switches between retro 8-bit visuals and HD, hand-drawn animation, which both evoke nostalgia for older players and excitement in younger players. Players play as Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, and Lil as they explore backyard jungles, sandbox deserts, spooky attics, and more, solving puzzles, dodging enemies, finding collectibles, and completing challenges using each rugrat’s special abilities. The video game features locations seen in the show, including the Ice Cream Factory, the Haunted House, Jungle, and more. With six levels to complete, players can explore the world of Rugrats on their own or with a group of fellow babies.
Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland launches on Steam, PlayStation 4|5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One starting Sept. 10 for $24.99. While rewatching the original series is the best way to introduce kids to Rugrats, this video game will be an epic adventure for both them and the adults in their lives.
