MGA Entertainment has debuted a new movie titled L.O.L. Surprise! The Skate Dance Movie. Based on the characters from the L.O.L. Surprise! brand, the film discusses the pressure to achieve, friendship, and creativity.
In L.O.L. Surprise!: The Skate Dance Movie, Ali Dance has a lead role in Skate Fest and is the lead in the ballet. When she discovers that the Skate Fest and ballet are on the same day, Ali enlists the help of her friends to figure out what to do, how to handle the pressure, and how to find her groove.
The film highlights internal happiness versus external achievement. According to a recent poll by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 89% of parents believe that mental health is more important than academic achievement. As a result, the new L.O.L. Surprise! movie focuses on celebrating what’s inside, rather than building on the pressure to achieve.
“In The Skate Dance Movie, Ali Dance learns to have fun again, blend the two things she loves, rather than trying to be perfect,” Anne Parducci, Chief Content Officer at MGA Entertainment, says. “L.O.L. Surprise! is a refreshing counterbalance to the competitive ‘grit’ that many young achievers are faced with. The brand helps foster an internal dialogue that builds positive affirmations, sense of acceptance, and joy in trying new things —all through the power of play and kids’ entertainment.”
L.O.L. Surprise!: The Skate Dance Movie is just under an hour and has launched ahead of International Day of the Girl celebrations on Oct. 11. The movie aligns with the brand’s encouragement to ditch the “perfect” and discover “What’s Inside,” a message accompanied by MGA Entertainment’s new line of Tweens Costume Surprise fashion dolls.
It also features four songs, including a new version of “Somewhere in Between,” “We’re Not Perfect,” “Do What You Love,” and “Meet My Family.”
It’s available now on the L.O.L. Surprise! YouTube channel and YouTube Kids. The soundtrack is also available on several music streaming platforms.
