Bluey, the Australian dog, will be the newest Disney movie star in 2027.
BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company are creating Bluey’s first animated feature film.
Bluey creator Joe Brumm will be the film’s writer and director.
“I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together,” says Brumm.
After the movie hits theatres, it will stream on Disney+, where Bluey is currently the most-watched series globally. In the U.S., it holds the title of the year’s most-watched series on streaming to date through November among total viewers.
“Since its debut on Disney Jr. and Disney+, Bluey has become a global phenomenon, uniting families everywhere with its heartfelt stories of play, imagination, and connection,” says Alan Bergman and Dana Walden, Co-Chairmen of Disney Entertainment. “We are so proud to expand upon our relationship with BBC Studios to bring the magic of Bluey’ to the big screen – for real life!”
BBC Studios is financing and licensing the film for distribution. The Australian government supports the project through the Producer Offset and Screen Australia, while the Queensland Government provides additional support via Screen Queensland’s Post, Digital, and Visual Effects Incentive
