Tristan Eaton and Kidrobot have dropped the 20th Anniversary Still Life Gold 8″ Dunny vinyl art toy, the latest in a series of figures and products celebrating the historic milestone of the iconic Dunny platform figure that Eaton created just over 20 years ago (!). This third Still Life edition brings the bling with a beautiful, super shiny gold treatment of Tristan’s design that is a self-portrait of his better self. The fragments of his signature collage aesthetic represent his journey as a graffiti artist, toy designer as well as his heritage and ethos. This colorway celebrates Montana’s Gold spray paint that he relies on to create murals and paintings. It follows the previous Ketchup and Mystic Gold editions, also based on Montana colors.
Going off of the figure I saw up close and held, the electroplating on this piece is remarkably smooth and almost completely free of blemishes. Many collectors have a weakness for toys with special treatments, whether it’s GID or flocked. Truly shiny, reflective pieces are quite few and far between, other than very low run chromed pieces. To recap, super shiny, with the classic vinyl ‘touch’ (mind the fingerprints).
An edition of 300, the 20th Anniversary Still Life Gold 8″ Dunny vinyl art toy ($149.99) is one of KR’s 2024 Con Exclusives and will be available at DesignerCon (11.15 – 11.17) from the Kidrobot Booth (#1519). Tristan will be at the booth signing on Saturday (11.16). For those that can’t make the show it’s also available from Kidrobot.com.
